Wall Street stocks edge higher after earlier losses

Los Angeles– Stocks reversed from losses earlier in the day Monday as investors held off pressure from the mounting Israel-Hamas conflict.

At session lows, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 153.89 points while the S&P 500 fell 0.6%.

Additionally, the Nasdaq Composite sagged as much as 1.15% before recovering.

At closing, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.59% to 33,604.65. The S&P 500 rose 0.63% to 4,335.66, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 0.39% to close at 13,484.24.

While fears of geopolitical conflict rattled markets, the news that the Federal Reserve could halt interest rate hikes next month, allowing stocks some breathing room and leading to a reversal of modest losses.
