City of Covina Kicks off Holiday Season with Tree Lighting and Festival

Covina, CA—The City of Covina, in partnership with H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Cultural and Art Museum, today officially kicked off holiday season with tree lighting and festival.

Mayor Jorge Marquez, Mayor Pro Tem Patricia Cortez, council members John King, Walter Allen, III, and Victor Linares joined thousands of residents in the annual ceremony.

Mayor Marquez said the tree lighting ceremony has a history of more than 30 years.  It is another important winter event for the city aside from Christmas parade.  He invited all families to celebrate the community solidary and look forward to the full recovery from the pandemic.

The event included such activities as Visit from Santa, Giveaways, hot chocolate and coffee, children’s crafts, children’s train ride, snow fall experience, and Letter to Santa.

“H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III Cultural and Art Museum is honored to partner with the city hall in this event,” said Brian Tyan, the president of the museum.  “The pandemic disrupted people’s daily lives, but it will never destroy our spirits.  Let us join together to overcome the challenges with strength, wisdom and passion.”
