San Gabriel Valley Chinese Community Leaders Rally behind Mike Fong for State Assemblyman

San Gabriel—Local Chinese community leaders hosted a fundraiser today for Mike Fong, who is running for California Assemblyman representing 49th state Assembly District.

Fong launched his campaign last March, and has become a front runner, whose candidacy has been endorsed by key elected officials, including Congresswoman Judy Chu, Assemblyman Ed Chau, former Assemblyman Mike Eng, state Attorney General Rob Bonta, former state Treasurer John Chiang and former Mayor of Monterey Park Stephen Lam.

Citing his experiences in public service and education, Stephen Lam called for voters to support Fong in both the primary and general election scheduled respectively in June and November 2022.

Fong, who used to serve as the East Area Director for former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, acting as the primary liaison between the mayor’s office and constituents throughout Los Angeles, is currently Director of Policy and Government Relations for the City of Los Angeles Department of Neighborhood Empowerment.

Fong also serves on the board of Los Angeles Community College District, the largest one in the nation.  As an elected trustee, he has been dedicated to increasing student access to higher education, expanding workforce training, and improving the quality of educational opportunities.

The 49th state Assembly District, currently represented by Ed Chau, including Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Montebello, Monterey Park, Rosemead, San Gabriel, San Marino, South El Monte, and Temple City.

Fong, born and raised in Los Angeles, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology from UCLA, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Cal State Northridge.
