UNE Endorses Qualified Candidates as Election Day Draws Near (2)

The upcoming election is critical for our nation, our state and our communities.  US News Express, as an independent English and Chinese bilingual online news outlet, endorses the following qualified candidates based upon their views on key issues and our readers’ reviews and feedback.

Young Kim for Congress

As a small business owner, Young knows what it takes to create an environment where jobs can be created and workers can thrive.

Young believes that the hardworking men and women of Southern California are taxed and regulated enough. She will fight to keep taxes low so that individuals and families can keep more of their hard-earned dollars because they know how best to spend their money, not Washington politicians.

Young knows that keeping Americans safe and secure is vital in order to enjoy the freedoms and the prosperity we cherish.

As a proud immigrant, Young wants people from around the world to be able to legally immigrate to our country, become citizens, and achieve the American dream. However, our immigration system is broken and must be fixed.

Mike Eng for State Senate, District 22

Mike Eng has the experience to improve schools and colleges in California.  In the State Assembly and as a member of the Education Committee, he helped reduce class sizes, restore essential funding for up-to-date textbooks, and lead the efforts for free community college tuition for students under the College Promise Program.

As a Community College Board Trustee, Eng led efforts to provide quality job training for the jobs of the future, and secure the award of the $15 million California Career Pathways Grant to make sure that over 6000 students move from K-12 to Community College and then into the workforce.

Eng authored California’s Homeowner Bill of Rights to address the mortgage foreclosure crisis.

Fiona Ma for State Treasurer

Fiona Ma is currently the Vice Chair of the Board of Equalization.  She believes that the economic growth shall be sustained through fiscal balance, rational distribution of public resources and better employment.

Ma has the financial knowledge and experience to ensure California stays an economic leader and economic powerhouse.  And she believes that continuing to invest in the people and small businesses are the foundation for California’s economic success.
