Leo S.F. Lin Received the 2018 International Association of Chiefs of Police

Washington D.C.– Mr. Leo S.F. Lin, Taiwan police liaison officer (Attaché, Lt. Col.) with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in Washington DC, received the 2018 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) 40 under 40 award in a ceremony held at Hyatt Regency Orlando Hotel, Orlando, Florida this week.

  This award program is designed to recognize 40 law enforcement professionals under the age of 40 from around the world that demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment to their profession. Mr. Lin is the very first Taiwanese police officer and also the only Asian this year to have received the prestigious international award.

Since 1893, the IACP has been shaping the law enforcement profession. The IACP Annual Conference has been the foundation, providing leaders with new strategies, techniques, and resources they need to successfully navigate the evolving policing environment.

This year’s awardees represent local, state, and national law enforcement agencies, the military, university police departments, and federal agencies. They hail from the United States, Canada, Colombia, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Israel, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Australia, Mexico, and Taiwan. They include chiefs of police, sergeants, investigators, lieutenants, and numerous other roles and ranks, serving their communities in both sworn and non-sworn positions.

Officer Lin’s mother department is Taiwan’s National Police Agency. In his role as a police representative to the United States and Canada, he is dedicated to promoting the policing activities of the Taiwanese community, strengthening the law enforcement cooperation and exchange of personnel, and establishing everlasting partnerships. 

His hard work and contributions have been recognized by the IACP officials and this award shows that the dedication of his career to raising the bar for his communities and for his country.  Officer Lin also leads by example by providing training and mentorship for others, serving as role models, developing more effective methodologies for his department, and taking advantage of every opportunity to build up. Officer Lin goes beyond his role in the law enforcement field to improve his country in an effort to make the world a better place.
