Beverly Hills Celebrates Chinese New Year at Saban Theatre

IN celebration of upcoming Chinese New Year, the Year of Monkey, Beverly Hills Conference and Visitors Bureau (BHCVB) will present to Southern Californian audience a grand arts performance at Saban Theate on January 31.

More than 50 artists from Beijing, China will perform acrobatics and Peking opera. The event is the 5th annual Chinese New Year celebration organized by BHCVB in partnership with China International Culture Association, Beijing Association for Cultural Exchanges, and the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angles.

The City of Beverly Hills has close ties with the local Chinese community, and is home to many Chinese American business. Such activities as Chinese New Year celebration are conducive to cultural exchange and cooperation between American and Chinese people, said Julie Wagner, Executive Director of BHCVB at a press conference on Thursday.

In her address to a group of reporters from local media, Wang Jin, Cultural Consul of the Chinese Consulate General, says, for six years in a row the Ministry of Culture of China has been sending artists to different countries to promote the Spring Festival culture and share the holiday spirit with peoples around the world.
