IRVINE, Calif. (March 14, 2024): The City of Irvine is excited to celebrate community, connection, and clean air through its first-ever car-free open streets event, CicloIrvine, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4. Residents, visitors, and businesses are invited to stroll, bike, and roll along nearly 2 miles of streets closed to cars along Barranca Parkway and Harvard Avenue.

CicloIrvine highlights the City’s commitment to community engagement, sustainability, and environmentally conscious means of travel and encourages participants to experience Irvine’s public spaces and local businesses in a new and reimagined way with live music, art, and engaging activities for all.

“We are overjoyed to bring this type of open streets event to our Irvine community for the first time,” said Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “CicloIrvine will celebrate our residents and businesses, and the City’s commitment to sustainability, in a fun and engaging manner. It is another testament to our City’s innovative approach to being a forward-thinking, climate-smart City of the future.”

Street closures for CicloIrvine will take place Saturday, May 4, between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Most parking lots along the route will remain open, but driveway access will be restricted. Those who live or work on the CicloIrvine route should please expect detours. All streets surrounding the route will remain open to vehicle access during the event, and there will be designated spots along the event for traffic to cross.

Businesses along the CicloIrvine route can become a part of the event by joining as a sponsor or offering specials to visitors the day-of. The City of Irvine welcomes UCI Health as the presenting sponsor; additional sponsorship opportunities will be available online at cityofirvine.org/cicloirvine.
