Los Angeles County Seeks Bilingual Community Volunteers to Work at Vote Centers for the 2024 Presidential Primary Election

LOS ANGELES—Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean C. Logan issued a call-to-action to bilingual community volunteers who are interested in making a difference in their communities by applying to be an Election Worker in the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election.

As the 2024 Presidential Primary Election approaches, the RR/CC faces the pressing need to enlist bilingual Election Workers to staff Vote Centers in the County.

The RR/CC underscores the value of diversity among election workers, especially those fluent in languages like Khmer, Japanese, Thai, Farsi, Gujarati, Hindi, Korean, and Chinese. Language proficiency is just one facet of the critical support these workers provide to communities during elections.

Becoming an Election Worker isn’t merely a chance to participate; it’s an opportunity to earn additional income. Election Workers can earn up to $1,180 during the election period, with additional stipends for bilingual speakers who speak, read, and write in one of the County’s 18 supported languages, such as Khmer, Japanese, Thai, Farsi, Gujarati, Hindi, Korean, and Chinese.

Logan highlights the unique chance for individuals from all communities to join: “Community volunteers are the backbone of democracy who play a crucial role in safeguarding every voter’s seamless and positive experience as they exercise their fundamental right.”

With the 2024 Primary Election fast approaching, the RR/CC invites all eligible community members to apply to become an Election Worker. Interested individuals can apply and learn more about becoming Election Workers at LAVOTE.GOV/ElectionWorker.
