Wall Street Stocks Tick Lower ahead of Jobs Report

Los Angeles —

The stock market closed roughly flat on Thursday, with all three major indexes edging slightly lower as pressure continues over the labor market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.03% to 33,119.57, closing near flat. The S&P 500 slid 0.13% to 4,258.19, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dipped 0.12% to close at 13,219.83.

This comes amidst anticipation of an eagerly awaited jobs report Friday that could determine the future of interest rates.

Investors are worried that a stronger job market could leave interest rates higher and add to inflation concerns.

Economists predict a slower hiring pace compared to the 187,000 jobs added in last month’s report.
