Solis Leads Effort to Proclaim September 28-30 as Chuseok, Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival, Tết Trung Thu, and Tsukimi

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis released the following statement after the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved her motion to proclaim September 28-30, 2023, as Chuseok, Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival, Tết Trung Thu, and Tsukimi in Los Angeles County.

“Los Angeles County is home to nearly 1.5 million Asian American and Pacific Islanders, the largest AAPI population outside of Asia.

Their languages, traditions, delicious foods, and diverse cultures have become an essential part of our County. Proclaiming September 28-30, 2023, as Chuseok, Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival, Tết Trung Thu, and Tsukimi is the highest expression of the inclusion and diversity our communities take pride in every day.

As Supervisor of the First District, which is home to the majority of AAPI enclaves such as Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Thai Town, and Historic Filipinotown, it is my honor to lead this proclamation.”
