Supervisor Solis Announces EL GRAN Festival De East LA

El Gran Festival will convene the Goddess Mercado, Queer Mercado, East Los Angeles Certified Farmers Market and 100+ artisan, crafts, and food vendors from East Los Angeles and surrounding communities to the East Los Angeles Civic Center

LOS ANGELES, CA  Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis announces El Gran Festival de East LA, a one-day event convening all the Mercados in East Los Angeles on Saturday, September 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the East Los Angeles Civic Center.

In partnership with the East Los Angeles Entrepreneur Center, the Eastmont Community Center, In the Making, and My City My Dreams, El Gran Festival will offer farm fresh products, locally crafted and artisan goods, culturally authentic foods from over 100 entrepreneurial local businesses, and live entertainment, as well as monkeypox and COVID-19 vaccines.

As part of the Shop East L.A. campaign, an initiative launched to promote local spending for small businesses, this one-day event will highlight local entrepreneurs seeking to grow and expand their business and who need technical support which includes marketing, business planning, access to capital, and training opportunities.

“As we recover from the struggles the COVID-19 pandemic brought upon us, we must continue to support small businesses in every capacity,” shared Supervisor Solis. “El Gran Festival is the perfect opportunity for us to celebrate and uplift our local entrepreneurs. I am proud to sponsor this event and generate awareness of the culturally enriching Mercados that make East Los Angeles a historic and central component of Los Angeles County.”

“The East Los Angeles Mercados have provided a safe and friendly environment for entrepreneurs and small businesses to showcase their services and products while receiving support in starting their business ideas,” said Isaias Hernandez, Executive Director of the Eastmont Community Center, organizer of the El Gran Festival event and East Los Angeles Certified Farmers Market. “By bringing all the Mercados from East Los Angeles together for the first time, we can highlight the diversity, spirit, and array of ideas that many entrepreneurs in East Los Angeles and neighboring communities have. I invite all to come and support our local entrepreneurs and businesses.”

Entrance is free and parking will be made available at the East Los Angeles Civic Center. El Sol Shuttle will provide free transit services during the festival hours. Visitors can also take the Metro Gold Line to the event.
