LOS ANGELES — Mayor Eric Garcetti today announced the opening of nine cooling centers in the City of Los Angeles and urged Angelenos to also take advantage of libraries, Recreation and Parks facilities, and senior centers to escape dangerous temperatures in the upcoming days.
“Angelenos need a place to go for relief from extreme heat – especially those who are most vulnerable to the effects of high temperatures,” said Mayor Garcetti. “Our City’s libraries, recreation centers, and senior centers are all part of our network of cooling centers, and they are always available to residents during normal business hours. We’re adding hours at nine centers this week so that anyone who needs help can stay cool, healthy, and safe.”
The City’s recreation and senior centers and libraries will be open during regular operating hours. Information on hydration stations and tips for staying cool is available at emergency.lacity.org/heat and in Spanish at emergency.lacity.org/calor, or by calling 311.
