Current Events in Afghanistan

Director General Ruth A. Wong, Brigadier General, US Air Force

As we witness with wide eyes and heavy hearts the sad and troubling turn of events unfolding in Afghanistan, I want to acknowledge our fellow service men and women, veterans and their families who have so valiantly served over the past twenty years, and those who’ve given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Like many others, I am deeply troubled by the recent occupation of Afghanistan and what it means for those who put their lives at risk serving to preserve the freedoms we share here at home and for the women and girls in Afghanistan.
What is currently happening may effect you and other war-era veterans in many ways—you may be feeling a range of emotions in connection to the war(s) and I want to take a moment to offer support.
