In-person operations will resume and virtual services through a digital City Hall will continue.
IRVINE: The City of Irvine will reopen City Hall and other facilities to the public June 15. The reopening aligns with the State of California’s move to Beyond the Blueprint for a Safer Economy and the full reopening of business sectors.
“We want our community to know that the City is taking every step necessary to safeguard the health and well-being of our residents and businesses as we reopen June 15,” said Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “I encourage you to watch my welcome back video to learn more about the changes to City Hall and City Facilities. Please remember that although businesses are reopening, we still need to continue to do our part to keep Irvine safe.”
City Council and City Commission meetings
City Council and City Commission meetings will be open to the public with social distancing and masking required. Those who would like to participate virtually can do so by utilizing Zoom, and provide comments through our e-comment feature or by email.
Community Centers
Community Centers will again be open for drop-in use, along with scheduled activities and camps available by advance registration only.
Community Development Counter
Appointments will be required for in-person visits to the Community Development counter. All plans must be submitted online through the City’s IrvineREADY! permit system. View how to conduct other community development business online.
Irvine Animal Care Center
The Irvine Animal Care Center will provide adoption and other services by appointment from noon to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (closed Tuesdays). Appointments will also be available on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center will be open for animal viewing for the remainder of its operating hours: 3 – 6 p.m. on weekdays and 1-4 p.m. on weekends.
Irvine Fine Arts Center
The Irvine Fine Arts Center will offer indoor activities and camps with advance registration only. The indoor galleries will re-open with a new exhibition July 12, and will not require appointments.
Office of Records and Information
The Office of Records and Information is operating by appointment only to access public information and official records. Appointments are available online.
Senior Centers
The Lakeview Senior Center, Rancho Senior Center, and Trabuco Center will be open for in-person activities with advance registration only. Additionally, amenities such as the fitness centers, computer lab, table tennis and billiards will be available by reservation only. The centers will continue to provide virtual and drive-in activities, and will continue to evaluate additional in-person activities. The centers will not yet be available for drop-in use.
As the City reopens, Irvine’s digital City Hall will continue to be available, ensuring residents and businesses have more options than ever to take care of important matters and connect with City staff. The digital City Hall will continue to utilize e-signatures and electronic routing of documents, proposals, and contracts. Additionally, plan check and permit issuance will be available through the IrvineREADY! System, and virtual inspections will continue to be an option.
During the pandemic, the City of Irvine took the opportunity to enhance the Irvine Civic Center. Improvements include:
- Electric vehicle charging stations in the Irvine Civic Center parking lot.
- A COVID-19 testing site at the Civic Center Piazza through a partnership with 360 Clinic.
- New paint, carpet, and energy-efficient lighting in City Hall.
- A public art installation with pieces from the Suburban Ecologies art exhibition that were previously seen at the Great Park Gallery.
The City of Irvine is committed to maintaining the health and safety of all Irvine residents and will be closely following the evolving situation regarding Cal/OSHA’s COVID-19 Prevention Emergency Temporary Standards related to masking. Face coverings will be worn by employees at all City facilities and when interacting with the public. Plexiglass dividers have also been installed in public-facing spaces, and physical distancing will be practiced among employees and members of the public.
Patrons visiting City facilities or City Hall are also required to wear masks indoors, as well as outdoors if less than 6 feet away from others.
