Rowland High School Senior Named Winner of 2021 Congressional Art Competition

Placentia, CA – Rowland High School Senior Martin Ni was named the winner of the 2021 Congressional Art Competition for the 39th District of California. His winning artwork, a mixed media piece titled “A Summer Hummingbird,” will be displayed in the U.S Capitol Building in Washington, DC for one year. In announcing the news, U.S. Representative Young Kim (CA-39) issued the following statement:
“I am so impressed by the talent and creativity exhibited by the more than 80 talented high school artists who submitted their artwork for this year’s Congressional Art Competition,” said Rep. Kim. “Martin’s artwork was beautifully done, and I’m glad that my colleagues in Congress and thousands of visitors from around the world will soon be able to see ‘A Summer Hummingbird’ in our nation’s Capitol building and see a glimpse of California’s 39th District through Martin’s artwork.”
After careful consideration by Rep. Kim and judges Bobby Romero of the La Habra Art Gallery, Hyunae Kang of Yeda Art Gallery in Brea, Katie Adams Ferrell of Muzeo in Anaheim and Richard Stein of Arts Orange County, the following winners were chosen:
  • 1st Place: “A Summer Hummingbird” by Martin Ni, Rowland High School
  • 2nd Place: “War N Peace” by Howard Lin, Art Studio 123
  • 3rd Place: “Three Hours Pass But It Feels Like One” By Danica Jew, Glen A. Wilson High School
