Chair Hilda L. Solis’ Statement on Offering $15,000 Reward in the Shooting Investigation of Gabriela De Haro Perez

LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Hilda L. Solis, Supervisor to the First District, released the following statement after offering a $15,000 reward in the shooting investigation of Gabriela De Haro Perez, a 29 year old woman who was fatally shot in a car-to-car shooting in the City of West Covina.

“Sadly, Gabriela tragically lost her life due to gang-related violence in the San Gabriel Valley,” said Chair Solis. “In an effort to bring about justice, I am putting forward a reward of $15,000 to assist in the investigation and to ensure those responsible are held accountable. I am also committed to working with impacted community members, elected representatives, and law enforcement, along with community-based organizations who lead gang intervention and prevention work, to put an end to the senseless gang-related violence harming our community. Only by working together will we be able to reach a solution.”

Gabriela was born on August 30, 1991 and died due to a senseless shooting on January 3, 2021, near the intersection of Azusa Avenue and Amar Road in West Covina. A graduate from South Hills High School in West Covina, Gabriela went on to complete her studies in the fields of cosmetology and dental hygiene and was on her way to becoming a registered nurse. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in West Covina and an active volunteer at St. Thomas More Catholic School in Alhambra. Those who knew Gabriela described her as kind, caring, smart, fun, and fierce. She is survived by her husband, mother, father, brother, dog, and a host of extended family members and friends who miss her dearly.
