Captain Chris Johnson welcomed the group to the station and briefed them with the station’s daily operation and the law enforcement related to COVID-19.

“We do vehicle patrols like all sheriff stations and police stations do,” said Johnson.  “We also incorporate our water patrols of Marina del Rey Harbor, Santa Monica Bay, and other areas of the coast of Los Angeles County, 73 miles of coastline in Los Angeles County.”

Speaking of enforcing public health order, Johnson said the station did recommend people to wear masks, and stay at home if they can.  But “we are not making any arrests or citing anybody for violations”. “We do recommend social distancing practically,” added Johnson.

The media access was organized by Chester Chong, Chairman of Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Los Angeles, who is also a reserve deputy of Los Angeles Sheriff Department.

“Today’s event is just a beginning,” said Chong.  “Similar activities will be planned at different stations of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to help communities better understand the law enforcement, and promote positive interactions between the police and the communities it serves.”
