Senator Chang Issues Statement on ACA 5 Vote

Sacramento, CA – Today Senator Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar) issued the following response after ACA 5 passed out of the Senate Committee on Labor, Public Employment, and Retirement:

“Today’s vote is extremely disappointing.  Despite an overwhelming number of Californians opposing ACA 5, Sacramento politicians are fast tracking this measure in the middle of a global pandemic. I have experienced racial discrimination so I know what that’s like. But the answer to racial discrimination is not more discrimination which is what this bill proposes. The answer is to strengthen our institutions by improving our education system so all students have access to a quality education, and give opportunities to those who are economically disadvantaged. ACA 5 legalizes racial discrimination and that’s wrong. I will speaking in opposition to this bill before the Senate next week.”

Senator Ling Ling Chang represents the 29th Senate District which encompasses portions of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino Counties, including the communities of Brea, Chino Hills, Cypress, Diamond Bar, Fullerton, La Habra, La Palma, Placentia, Rowland Heights, Stanton, Walnut, Yorba Linda  and portions of Anaheim, Buena Park, City of Industry and West Covina.
