Rochester- The U.S. stock market jumped on Wednesday following a strong Super Tuesday showing from former vice president Joe Biden, who investors see as a more business-friendly option for the Democratic ticket.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed more than 500 points or 2% in early market Trading.
Gains in the Dow were led by the healthcare sector, suggesting that a less progressive candidate could clinch the nomination. Shares of UnitedHealth Group rose 11%.
The S&P 500 gained 1.4% while the tech heavy Nasdaq Composite added 1.2% Bond yields continue to remain lower as uncertainty around the economic impact of the coronavirus persists among investors.
The 10-year treasury yield was slightly below the record low of 1% as investors continue to flock to safe haven assets such as gold.
