Los Angeles–As President begins his first state visit to China, Sun Lushan, the Acting Consul General of China in Los Angeles, writes an exclusive article to U.S. News Express, talking about the importance and direction of the U.S.-China relations, the most important bilateral relations in the world. The following is the full article:
The President of the United States Donald J. Trump is about to start his first state visit to China shortly after the Communist Party of China successfully concluded its 19th National Congress, which is set to have deep and far-reaching impact on China’s development, and provide fresh impetus and bring new opportunities to China’s relations with the rest of the world, including the United States.
The 19th CPC Nation Congress calls upon all countries to build new type of international relations based on mutual respect, fairness, justice, cooperation and mutual benefit, and forge a community with a shared future for mankind, take a new approach to developing state-to-state relations featuring partnership and cooperation, not alliance and confrontation, and work towards a peaceful, safe, prosperous, open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world through dialogue, shared growth and collaboration. China is ready to combine the Chinese dream with the world dream, and make new contributions to the mankind.
China benefits from the world in its development, and is therefore to share with the world the incurred opportunities and benefits. The Belt and Road Initiative explains well this philosophy. The 19th CPC National Congress mentioned the initiative five times in its report, and determined to enshrine the initiative in the platform of the Communist Party, which demonstrates China’s emphasis on such a new mechanism for global governance. Since the initiative was launched, more than 100 countries and international organizations have been actively involved. The initiative, which has created nearly 1.1 billion U.S. dollars in revenue and 180,000 jobs for countries along the Belt and Road, has become a new platform for international cooperation and the most welcomed international public product. The government and business of the United States and the State of California are welcome to participate in China’s Belt and Road Initiative to pursue common development and mutual benefit. The first International Import Expo will be held in Shanghai, China on November 5-10, 2018. Everyone is welcome to be a part of it.
As pointed out in the 19th National Congress, China is dedicated to a global partnership and convergence of interests with other countries, building a framework for major countries relations featuring overall stability and balanced development. This will serve as a significant guideline for the U.S.-China relations, the most important bilateral relationship in the world. China and the United States share a wide range of interests and special responsibilities in maintaining the world peace and stability, and promoting global development and prosperity. Facts have proved that, the two countries will benefit from cooperation, while suffering from confrontation. Cooperation is the only correct choice for both countries. Healthy and stable U.S.-China relations will benefit not only the two countries, but the world as a whole.
The U.S.-China relations, deeply rooted in both societies, rely upon and benefit from sub-national cooperation, which is the most dynamic part of the bilateral relationship. In recent years, China and southern California have conducted robust and productive exchanges and cooperation in various areas, forging a pattern for wide-range, multilevel, comprehensive and three-dimensional coordination, which plays a critical role promoting the development of the U.S.-China relations. The sub-national cooperation between the two countries is expected to achieve even greater success in the future.
The 19th CPC National Congress marks a new era for China. The upcoming visit of President Trump is widely expected to be successful, injecting fresh energy and power to the U.S.-China relations, ushering the bilateral relationship and sub-national cooperation into a new era, and therefore benefiting our two countries, two peoples and the world as a whole.
