ASSEMBLYMAN PHILLIP CHEN NAMED DEPUTY REPUBLICAN WHIP

Newly elected Assemblyman Phillip Chen has been named Deputy Republican Whip by Assembly Republican Leader Chad Mayes, a leadership position within the state legislature.

“I’m so honored that Assemblyman Chen accepted my invitation to join my leadership team,” said Assembly Republican Leader Mayes. “As one of California’s rising stars and a bold leader, I need Phil standing next to me in the fight to protect California’s middle class and his appointment does just that.”

“I am grateful to be named Deputy Republican Whip by Assembly Leader Mayes,” said Chen. “I look forward to working on common sense solutions that make California more business-friendly, keep our families safe, and protecting the pocketbooks of taxpayers.”

Republican Whips are charged with mobilizing member votes on important legislation, acting as a liaison between members and leadership, and helping to coordinate strategy within the Caucus.

Assemblyman Chen is a Small Business Owner and former educator. The 55th Assembly District represents portions of Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties.
