Spelling Bee Champion punches ticket to the National Stage in D.C.

Westminster, CA – Stacey Middle School in the Westminster School District in Orange County announced that its’ stellar speller, Katelyn Nguyen, has emerged victorious as the Orange County Spelling Bee Champion. Katelyn’s remarkable spelling abilities have secured her a shot at the prestigious Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. next week. Nguyen is the first ever WSD student to accomplish this feat and is one of only fifteen students in California to secure a spot and compete against nearly 250 spellers.

In March, Katelyn received well-deserved recognition for her dedication and talent in the field of spelling. Despite this significant achievement, she remains humble and grounded with plans to celebrate this milestone with her family. However, Katelyn’ has her sights set on the big stage of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Katelyn’s success not only reflects her individual brilliance but is also a testament and tribute to the academic excellence that Stacey Middle School in WSD provides. The WSD community congratulates Katelyn on this remarkable accomplishment and wishes her the best of luck as she prepares to represent the district on the National Stage.
