Irvine Road Construction & Improvement Projects March 28-April 4

In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance City of Irvine on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

Nighttime Lane Closures on State Routes 133 and 261

Caltrans has scheduled nighttime lane closures of State Route 133 (SR-133) and SR-261 from Thursday, March 28 to Friday, March 29. These closures are required as part of a project to refresh traffic striping in the area.

The following locations will be closed per each date, weather permitting:

Thursday, March 28:

  • Northbound SR-133 from Interstate 5 (I-5) to SR-241: Alternating closures of #1, 2, 3 & 4 lanes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Northbound SR-261 from Walnut Avenue to Portola Parkway: Alternating closures of #1 & 2 lanes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Southbound SR-261 from Portola Parkway to Walnut Avenue: Alternating closures of #1 & 2 lanes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Friday, March 29:

  • Northbound SR-133 from I-5 to SR-241: Alternating closures of #1, 2, 3 & 4 lanes from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Northbound SR-261 from Walnut Avenue to Portola Parkway: Alternating closures of #1 & 2 lanes from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Southbound SR-261 from Portola Parkway to Walnut Avenue: Alternating closures of #1 & 2 lanes from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

73 Toll Road On-Ramp Closure

The MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp to northbound 73 Toll Road will be fully closed Thursday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. while The Toll Roads conducts guardrail repair.

The Toll Roads offers this detour:

  • Continue northbound on MacArthur Boulevard.
  • Turn left onto Jamboree.
  • Turn left to take the on-ramp to the northbound 73 Toll Road.

Jamboree Pavement Rehabilitation

Phase two of the Jamboree Road Pavement Rehabilitation Project begins Monday, April 1, weather permitting. This phase of the project is expected to be completed in summer and includes:

  • Reopening the previously closed northbound Walnut off-ramp and southbound Walnut on-ramp along Jamboree Road.
  • Asphalt rehabilitation work along Jamboree Road from Michelle Drive to the railroad tracks (City limit) from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Work will be performed behind permanent K-rail closures.

There will be no full closures during this phase.
