The event in China was led by the Yiwu Academy of Science and Technology, Zhejiang University of Technology. Several professors from Sofia University participated in the event from the United States, including Dr. Dorote Lucci, Chair of the Global Psychology Conference, Dr. Michelle Daly, core faculty member of Sofia University, and MBA professors at the Business School: Dr. Brandi Chen, Dr. Dina Ziadlou, and Dr. Shawishi Haynes.

Although the two sides have different backgrounds and living environments, they resonated widely on the growth of women, the challenges women face in society, and the multiple roles women play in families. During the video connection, professors from Sofia University delivered speeches, extending holiday greetings to women in Yiwu, expressing admiration for their contributions to urban development and economic prosperity, and delving into topics such as women’s empowerment, psychological development, and gender equality, encouraging women to break free from constraints and strive for success.

Women in Yiwu have achieved great success in their careers and lives, serving as a golden name card for the city of Yiwu. American scholars and professors expressed curiosity and a desire to continue communication and mutual learning. The activities of women in Yiwu, under the leadership of Jiang Baozhen, Dean of Yiwu Academy of Science and Technology, are vibrant not only on International Women’s Day but also through monthly themed events. In the United States, International Women’s Day is not a national holiday for women, nor is it a widely recognized holiday.

Female leaders from the United States who attended the event will increase communication on various topics with women from around the world in subsequent series of conferences on women’s leadership, such as dialogues between female entrepreneurs from China, the United States, and Germany. Sofia University will host an event on April 5th, continuing to focus on women’s leadership and its importance in various fields. This event, titled “Reflections on Women’s Leadership: Opportunities and Challenges,” is a Zoom meeting aimed at deepening the theme of women’s leadership, especially during Women’s History Month. The meeting will provide a platform for sharing experiences, stories, and strategies, emphasizing the importance of women’s leadership in various fields and inviting people from all areas to actively participate.

The video conference on International Women’s Day and the subsequent activities collectively constitute a cross-national dialogue on women’s leadership between the city of Yiwu and Sofia University, providing more exploration and contemplation on the influence of women in the workplace and society. Looking forward to further exchanges and cooperation, striving to create a more equitable, inclusive, and opportunity-filled harmonious world.
