California Assemblymember Mike Fong Presents Check for $2 Million in State Funding for the Reconstruction of Monterey Park Fire Station 63

Monterey Park, CA – Yesterday, California Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra) announced $2 million he secured in state funding for the reconstruction of the City of Monterey Park’s Fire Station 63, one of the oldest fire stations in the region built in 1958, located at 704 Monterey Pass Road.

“Supporting our first responders is one of my top priorities. The Monterey Park Fire Department shows tremendous heroism every day, especially in response to the Monterey Park mass shooting earlier this year. I am proud to support their department with funding for a safer, modern station,” said Assemblymember Fong.

“We deeply appreciate Assemblymember Fong’s support through $2 million, which will help address the needs of an aging facility that currently does not meet the needs of a modern fire department. This project is an investment in public safety for the community and its first responders,” said Monterey Park Fire Chief Matthew Hallock.

Mayor Jose Sanchez said, “We thank the men and women of the Monterey Park Fire Department for their bravery and dedication. Today is special because we are also celebrating a crucial state investment in their life-saving work. Thank you to Assemblymember Fong for your steadfast support of our city.”

The $2 million in state funds is part of almost $5 million Assemblymember Fong secured in the 2023-2024 state budget. Other funds went towards supporting recreational facilities, libraries, and infrastructure updates throughout Assembly District 49.
