Stocks end mixed on Wednesday following days of losses
Los Angeles — Wall Street stocks ended the day trading mixed following several days of steep losses for all three major indexes. This comes as the 10-year treasury yield hit its highest level since 2007 at 4.625%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.20% to 33,550.27, building on steep losses from the previous session.
The S&P 500 rose 0.02% to close at 4,274.51 just above the flatline while the tech heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 0.22% to 13,092.85.
Stocks have faced pressure in recent days from interest rate concerns as investors anticipate higher rates longer than expected.
The prospect of a government shutdown is also rattling nerves as the deadline for a budget deal draws closer.
