Stocks finish flat on Monday ahead of Fed meeting
Wall Street trading finished flat on Monday with few new moves or major developments as investors await the Federal Reserve’s schedule meeting on interest rates later this Week.
The S&P 500 rose by 0.07% to 4,453.53. The Dow Jones Industrial Average inched up 0.02% to close at 34,624.30, while the Nasdaq Composite finished just above the flat line at 0.01% to end at 13,710.24.
The Federal Reserve begins its two-day policy meeting Tuesday with its latest policy decision to be released Wednesday.
Investors largely expect interest rates to remain largely steady and within expectations. The stock market has been teetering up and down since August amidst uncertainty about dramatic hikes to interest rates.
