Hacienda Heights Peaceful Demonstration Draws Followers
Hacienda Heights — The Hacienda Heights peace demonstration and march took place as planned on June 10, 2023 (Saturday) at Hacienda Blvd./Gale Ave.
It resonated strongly, with the participation and assistance of Gino Guo, the Hacienda School Board member, Eric Chin, the Walnut City Council member, and Richard Gill, the leader opposing the Homeless project in San Dimas, who also recorded the event. Former La Puente Mayor Violete Lewis came to show support.
The residents of Hacienda Heights are not solely protesting against the misguided conversion of Motel 6 into a permanent homeless center (Village). Instead, they are reevaluating democratic mechanisms.
When everyone is talking about community safety, school safety, and resident safety, there is a significant security threat that should not be overlooked. The question is whether the wrong decision will be stubbornly enforced or if there is room for adjustment and improvement.
We are closely watching and actively striving for change. The Chinese community is not absent from this democratic protest; we are organizing and leading residents in the struggle. The currents of history will witness our efforts. Let’s keep going! We will prevail.
