LOS ANGELES – September 6, 2022 – Cathay Bank announced that it will hold the 45th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Industry Hills Golf Club. Over the years, Cathay Bank raised almost $2 million through its charity golf tournament, which benefits local nonprofit organizations, and demonstrates its mission to help communities thrive.
“Although our annual charity golf tournament paused for two years due to unprecedented circumstances, we never forget our commitment to the communities. Today, our communities need our support more than ever,” said the Cathay Bank Foundation Chairman Peter Wu. “Please join us for a day of fun and to support our communities.”
Cathay Bank’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament began in 1977. This year is more memorable as Cathay Bank celebrates its 60th anniversary. “We are so excited to bring back this significant charitable event to make a remarkable anniversary,” said Chairman of the Cathay Bank Golf Tournament Committee, Anthony Tang.
Player registration is open now, and sponsorships are also available. The enrollment fee is $200 per player, including green and range fees, golf cart, lunch, dinner, and gift. Players will also have opportunities to win exciting prizes, including $10,000 cash for a hole-in-one at a pre-assigned par-3-hole. The event proceeds will benefit the following nonprofit organizations:
- Asian American Senior Citizens Service Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing culturally and linguistically sensitive health and social services to the Asian American community of Orange County
- Cathay Bank Foundation’s mission is to enhance the growth and success of the communities in which Cathay Bank serves. Our ultimate objective is to create opportunities in the areas of affordable housing, community and economic development, and education.
- Friends of the Chinatown Library promotes educational, recreational, and cultural programs for the Chinatown community. The organization also funds a Homework Assistance Center, an English Conversational Center, and Children’s Reading Incentive Awards.
- Herald Family Center Counseling Ministry provides holistic education and care to Southern California Chinese American communities through prevention, education, and counseling services to assist them in building healthy families.
- International Institute of Los Angeles (IILA) assists individuals and families in building skills and abilities to become self-sufficient, overcome life crises, and meet basic human needs to participate fully in today’s society.
- Irvine Chinese School teaches and promotes Chinese language and culture. The current enrollment is approximately 1,200 students in 14 different grade levels based on their language abilities.
- No Limits for Deaf Children teaches deaf children the skills to succeed in school and in life through its national theater group and educational centers.
- Pacific Clinics offers innovative community-based programs and services to people with severe psychiatric disabilities. The organization is driven by the belief that healthy individuals and nurturing families are the foundation of stronger communities.
- Taiwanese American Heritage Week is held mainly to praise Taiwanese Americans for contributing to the U.S. economy, culture, and other fields.
