ILF Los Angeles Hosts Its First Student-led Seminar Featuring “Anti-Asian Racism in America”

Los Angeles —  The International Leadership Foundation (ILF) Los Angeles Chapter held its first student-led seminar on April 8, 2021 via zoom. The seminar’s topic is ‘Anti-Asian Racism in America’.

It was organized and hosted by Lingxi He (senior from Harvard West Lake School) and John Leslie (Junior from Arcadia High School).

Both students took the initiative in picking the topic, inviting guest speakers, preparing the interview questions as well as promoting the seminar.

The co-chairs of ILF LA chapter Dr. Jesse Hong and Judy Tsai, honorable chair Ivy Sun, advisors Rachel Baiyan, Cindy Wang, Edward Dong and Simon Saeheng showed great support for the event.

The guest speakers were notable Asian-American equality activist Dr. Gay Yuen, an expert in history Amanda Roraback, and aspiring journalist Robinson Lee.  In the seminar, speakers discussed the history of anti-Asian violence in America and its continuation in today’s society.  Speaker Dr. Yuen especially inspired many to end the silence on anti-Asian crimes with a vivid account of her own experience.

The event received big support and great attendance of all ages across Los Angeles area. The International Leadership Foundation Los Angeles Chapter plans on encouraging more student-led seminars in the future.
