LOS ANGELES- Southern California gas prices continue to move up as more businesses open and commuters return to the freeways, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch. Today’s retail statewide average is $2.92 a gallon for regular unleaded, which is four cents higher than last week.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $2.96 per gallon, which is up two cents compared to last week, 13 cents higher than a month ago, and 96 cents lower than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $2.95, which is four cents higher than last Thursday, 17 cents more than last month, and 96 cents lower than last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $2.99, which is one penny higher than last week, ten cents higher than last month, and $1.01 lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $2.88, which is three cents higher than last week, 21 cents higher than last month, and 98 cents lower than last year. In San Bernardino, the $2.88 average price is four cents higher than last week, 16 cents higher than last month, and $1.01 lower than a year ago today.
“Yesterday’s inventory report from the Energy Information Administration shows increased stockpiles of gasoline supply nationwide, but there was a reduction in California inventory, according to the state energy commission, so we expect that prices will continue to gradually increase as long as demand increases,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring.
