Beijing, China—The International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair, along with China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, launched a China Initiative today in Beijing.
The initiative, aimed at promoting regenerative medicine around the world, intends to sponsor 1000 medical professionals from 20 countries to focus on regenerative studies and clinical research within 5 years.
“The International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair will respect each individual study, and use every effort to help people who expect regenerative medicine to change their lives,” said Kevin Xu, the founder and president of the Society.
To mobilize international involvement and resources, the Society will dedicate itself to build “a community of shared future for regenerative medicine” along with its international partners, Xu added.
Regenerative medicine has seen rapid development over the last decade, bringing new hope to human health. The public awareness of this relatively new medical field, however, lacks behind. And the involvement of the government and society is far from enough.
“Center for Regenerative Therapeutics at Harvard Medical School will have more in-depth cooperation with the International Society of Regenerative Medicine and Wound Repair in the United States and around the globe, conducting more training in the field of regenerative medicine,” said Aristidis Veves, Rongxiang Xu, MD, professor of Surgery at Harvard.
The BIDMC Rongxiang Xu, MD, Center for Regenerative Therapeutics was established at Harvard Medical School in 2016 in recognition of the international leadership of the late Chinese doctor Rongxiang Xu in the field of regenerative therapeutics.
“The development of a new medical field cannot simply rely on a single nation, a single institution or single individual,” said Kevin Xu. “The collaboration of government, academia and industries is a must to work towards a community of shared future for regenerative medicine.”
