Los Angeles, CA—The Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles presented a plaque to Zhang Ping commemorating his appointment as the new Consul General of China in Los Angeles in the board meeting today.
“On behalf of the Board of Supervisors and more than ten million residents of the County of Los Angeles, I am extremely pleased to extend our congratulations to the Consul General on his appointment,” said Sheila Kuehl, the chair of the board, who introduced to the board the diplomatic career of Zhang.
Kuehl added, the board “unanimously pledges support of its position to enhance the already close relationship between China and this region.”
Zhang expressed his appreciation of the warm welcome the Board of Supervisors extended to him, and his sympathy towards some residents impacted by the most recent wild fires in southern California.
“The County of Los Angeles, as one of the most important regions in the United States, is not only the economic and trade center in the west coast, but a culture and entertainment center as well,” Zhang said. “There is a huge potential for more exchange and cooperation between China and this region.”
Zhang arrived in Los Angeles last month.
