Los Angeles–A 27-year-old professional poker player was sentenced today to eight years and eight months in state prison for following casino patrons to their homes and robbing them.
On Oct. 31, Dominick Blair Roberson (dob 6/30/89) of Paramount was found guilty of four counts of second-degree robbery and one count of attempted second-degree robbery.
On Oct. 8, 2015, Roberson targeted a 42-year-old man at the Hawaiian Gardens Casino and followed him to his Westminster home. While there, the defendant attempted to rob the man in his driveway, but the victim was able to get away, the prosecutor said.
The next day, Roberson eyed a 50-year-old woman at the same casino and followed her to her Long Beach home. Armed with a replica gun, the defendant robbed the victim in her driveway and took $1000 cash as well as the victim’s purse, according to the prosecutor.
Less than a week later, the defendant followed another Hawaiian Gardens Casino patron to her Westminster home and robbed the 41-year-old woman in front of her residence. Roberson took the victim’s purse and about $3100 in cash, the prosecutor added.
Following the robbery, the defendant returned to the casino and used the victim’s money to gamble, the prosecutor said.
On Oct. 21, 2015, a 59-year-old woman was followed by the defendant from Hollywood Park Casino to her home in Torrance where he robbed her of at least $6000 in cash. During the incident, Roberson also punched the woman, the prosecutor added.
More than two weeks later, Roberson trailed a 51-year-old woman from the Hawaiian Gardens Casino to her home in La Puente. Once at the residence, the defendant robbed the victim of at least $2000 and then went to another casino in Gardena where he was later arrested.
