In recent days police officers in several cities have been targeted and ambushed. And racial tension appears on the rise again. In an Op-Ed article Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell calls for trust building and constructive dialogue between law enforcement the communities they serve.
To demonstrate appreciation and support to law enforcement, representatives from Royal Business Bank, Mebo International, American Chinese National Chamber of Commerce and leaders of Southern California Chinese community gathered at Hall of Justice, exchanging views with Sheriff McDonnell and his deputies, and making donations to Sheriff’s Youth Foundation, which is dedicated to providing Los Angeles County youth with safe facilities, planned programs and the vital tools they need to thrive and succeed in life.
Sheriff McDonnell expressed gratitude to the Chinese community for its trust, understanding and generous donations, and praised the friendly interactions between law enforcement and the Chinese community as a model for relationship building.
A total amount of about $15,000 is donated to Sheriff’s Youth Foundation, including $10,000 from Royal Business Bank, $1,000 from Mebo International, $1,000 from American Chinese National Chamber of Commerce, and $2,000 gift coupons from TenRen & TenFu Group.
Simon Pang, Executive Vice President of Royal Business Bank, said the law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day. They deserve our respect and support. Dialogues can eliminate misunderstanding and mistrust. The cause of Sheriff’s Youth Foundation is noble. The children are the future. Helping the youth is of great significance.
