John Han Launches District 3 Campaign with Strong Community and Volunteer Support
ARCADIA, Calif. — Arcadia District 3 Councilmember John Han officially kicked off his campaign for the November election Sunday, joined by District 3 residents, community supporters and volunteers as he begins his effort to continue representing the district on the Arcadia City Council.
The campaign launch centered on a straightforward message: strong public safety, responsible financial stewardship and community-focused leadership.
“Serving District 3 is an honor, and I take that responsibility very seriously,” Han said. “Arcadia is a special community because generations of residents have worked to keep it safe, financially strong and a wonderful place to raise a family. I want to build on that foundation, listen to our residents and make responsible decisions that protect Arcadia for the future.”
Han was appointed by the Arcadia City Council on June 16, 2026, to serve the remainder of the District 3 term until the next election. He subsequently filed his candidacy for the November election, giving District 3 voters the opportunity to decide who will represent them moving forward.
Financial Expertise for City Hall
Born in Taiwan, Han brings an extensive professional background in finance, investment analysis, risk management, strategic planning and project leadership, experience he believes can be particularly valuable in overseeing municipal finances and protecting taxpayer resources.
Han studied at INSEAD and Tsinghua University and holds five internationally recognized professional credentials: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Market Technician (CMT), Project Management Professional (PMP), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
His campaign theme, “Strong Finances. Strong Arcadia.”, reflects his belief that sound financial management is the foundation for maintaining the city services residents depend on, from police and fire protection to infrastructure, parks, senior services and neighborhood improvements.
“Fiscal responsibility isn’t just about numbers on a spreadsheet,” Han said. “It’s about making sure residents receive excellent services today while protecting the City’s ability to meet its responsibilities tomorrow. Every taxpayer dollar deserves careful oversight.”
Building Trust Through Community
Sunday’s kickoff also highlighted the grassroots approach Han plans to take throughout the campaign, with volunteers and supporters preparing for neighborhood outreach, community engagement and direct conversations with District 3 voters.
Former Walnut Mayor Joaquin Lim, who serves as Han’s campaign strategist, said the early support reflects a desire for steady, community-centered leadership.
“What we saw at the kickoff was more than enthusiasm for a candidate, it was a community coming together around the kind of leadership it wants at City Hall,” Lim said. “John brings a steady hand, strong financial judgment and a genuine willingness to listen. As voters get to know him, I believe they will see someone who is prepared to earn their trust every day and put District 3 first.”
For some District 3 residents, Han’s candidacy also represents an opportunity for stability and renewed confidence following a period of change in the district.
“As a District 3 resident, I want a representative who is accessible, transparent and focused on our community,” said one of Han’s supporters. “John brings a sense of stability and professionalism that I really appreciate. He listens, understands the importance of responsible city finances and genuinely wants residents to be part of the conversation.”
Public Safety, Fiscal Responsibility and Quality of Life
As the campaign moves forward, Han plans to focus on four core priorities:
- Public Safety: Supporting Arcadia police officers, firefighters and emergency personnel and ensuring first responders have the resources necessary to keep neighborhoods safe.
- Fiscal Stewardship: Protecting taxpayer dollars through disciplined spending, transparency and responsible long-term financial planning.
- Community Engagement: Remaining accessible and responsive while giving District 3 residents a meaningful voice at City Hall.
- Quality of Life: Protecting neighborhoods, supporting seniors and families, encouraging a healthy local business environment and preserving the qualities that make Arcadia an exceptional place to live.
Han said his campaign will prioritize direct engagement with residents in the months leading to the November election.
“This campaign isn’t just about me telling residents what I think,” Han said. “It’s about listening. I want to hear what families, seniors, homeowners and businesses throughout District 3 believe we are doing well, where we can improve and what they want Arcadia to look like in the years ahead.”
With the campaign now officially underway, Han and his volunteers plan to continue meeting voters throughout District 3 through neighborhood outreach, community events and other grassroots activities.
“My commitment is simple: be accessible, protect public safety, safeguard taxpayer dollars and keep the focus on the people we serve,” Han said. “Together, we can keep Arcadia safe, financially strong and a community we are proud to call home.”
