CHINO HILLS- A kidnapping and murder investigation in Chino Hills took a major turn Friday after the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department identified two Irvine residents as suspects in the death of a 60-year-old Chino Hills man.
Authorities identified the suspects as Zhengfeng Bo, 67, of Irvine, who was killed during an exchange of gunfire with deputies, and Jianquan Bo, 66, of Irvine, who was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.
The victim was identified as Shukur Aikebaer, 60, of Chino Hills.
The incident began around 10:14 p.m. on July 29 in the 2100 block of Monteverde Drive in Chino Hills. Investigators said Aikebaer’s home had lost power before the attack. When he went outside to check the electrical panel, authorities said he was confronted by the two suspects, who allegedly shot and kidnapped him.
Detectives are still investigating why the power was cut and whether the outage was connected to the attack.
Investigators said Bo and Aikebaer knew each other through a previous work relationship.
According to investigators, after the kidnapping, the suspects placed Aikebaer inside the trunk of a Nissan Altima with Oregon license plates and drove away.
Deputies later responded to reports of gunshots and a person calling for help. They located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, leading to a brief pursuit that ended on Wandering Ridge Drive.
Surveillance video from the area captured the tense moments that followed. Investigators said the passenger got out of the vehicle and followed deputies’ commands, while the driver walked to the trunk and opened it. Authorities said the driver then fired another shot at Aikebaer, who was inside the trunk.
Deputies opened fire, killing Zhengfeng Bo. Aikebaer was found dead inside the trunk, and Jianquan Bo was taken into custody.

Following the shooting, homicide detectives, with assistance from the Irvine Police Department, served a search warrant at the Irvine home shared by the two suspects near Benchmark and Crossover in the Great Park area. Investigators recovered evidence from the residence.
Jianquan Bo remains in custody at the West Valley Detention Center without bail.
Friends of Aikebaer told local media that he was originally from Xinjiang and had lived in Southern California for years. They described him as a businessman who was quiet, friendly, and well-liked by people who knew him. Friends said he is survived by three daughters.
The Sheriff’s Department has not released additional details about the victim’s background or a possible motive. Investigators said they are continuing to look into the relationship between Aikebaer and the suspects, including whether any financial dispute or other conflict may have been involved.
The case remains under investigation and will be submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review.
