Chinese American Museum to Host 29th Annual Historymakers Awards Gala in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — The Chinese American Museum will celebrate its 29th Annual Historymakers Awards Gala on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in downtown Los Angeles.

This year’s gala, themed “Voices of Legacy: Trailblazers and Bridge Builders,” will honor a diverse group of Chinese American leaders, innovators, and community advocates whose work continues to inspire future generations.

At a press conference unveiling this year’s honorees, U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu, San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District Board Member Mike Eng, Monterey Park Mayor Vinh T. Ngo , Gala Honorary Chair Dr. Evans Lam, Gala Co-Chairs Larry Jung and Jessica Sause, and CAM founders Munson Kwok and Suellen Cheng joined together in support of the museum’s mission and this year’s awardees.

Dr. Gay Q. Yuen, Chairman of the Friends of the Chinese American Museum, noted that this year’s honorees exemplify courage, creativity, and community impact. “Brandon Tsay and Chien Yu are role models whose actions have strengthened our communities, while Jason Chu and Tina Chen Craig demonstrate the cultural achievements of Asian Americans in mainstream society,” Yuen said.

The Historymakers Gala is not only a celebration of achievement but also CAM’s signature annual fundraising event, supporting the museum’s exhibitions, educational programs, and public initiatives.
