New York, August 13, 2025 – The “Echoes of Peace” cultural exchange event was held on Wednesday evening at the Rose Garden of the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Jointly hosted by China Media Group and the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations, the event marked the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations. It called on the international community to remember history, value peace, and work together to safeguard it. The Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, a well-known U.S. friendship organization, actively supported and participated in the gathering.

More than 100 guests attended, including representatives from UN agencies, diplomatic missions, descendants of American Flying Tigers veterans, and figures from cultural and civic sectors. Through this exchange, the hosts hoped to inspire peoples across the world to reflect on the lessons of WWII and unite in the pursuit of lasting peace.

Video remarks were delivered by Mr. Shen Haixiong, President of China Media Group. In-person keynote speeches were given by H.E. Ambassador Fu Cong, Permanent Representative of China to the UN; Ms. Melissa Fleming, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications; and Mr. Jeffery B. Greene, Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation. Speakers revisited the UN’s founding mission, recalled historic moments when nations stood shoulder-to-shoulder against fascism, commended China’s steadfast support for the UN and multilateralism, and underscored the urgency of preserving historical memory amid today’s challenging international climate.
The program included screenings of documentaries such as The Sinking of the Lisbon Maru and musical performances including Flowers of Peace. The evening concluded with a stunning large-scale projection on the UN Headquarters’ façade, recreating scenes from the signing of the UN Charter and other historic moments against the New York night sky.

The Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation is dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of the Flying Tigers and fostering U.S.–China people-to-people exchanges. Chairman Jeffery B. Greene, joined by his wife Katharine ,and Honorary Vice Chair of the Foundation and Chair of the Board of Mebo Group, Lili , attended as prominent representatives of business and public diplomacy circles.
Fresh from leading the 2025 “Flying Tigers Youth Summer Camp” in China, Mr. Greene shared that the delegation of American students had been warmly welcomed across the country. Many participants, who previously knew little about China, developed a deeper understanding of its history and culture, and expressed their eagerness to return for future exchanges. “The spirit of the Flying Tigers is a precious shared legacy born of the U.S. and Chinese people’s joint efforts to defend China’s skies during WWII,” Greene noted. “It is our hope that the younger generation will continue to carry it forward.”
Since 2024, Ms. Lili has led Mebo Group’s partnership with the Foundation in organizing the “Remembering Heroes” Flying Tigers historical photo exhibition across the world , reviving wartime memories of Chinese and American soldiers fighting side-by-side. In 2025, she helped support and promote the inaugural Flying Tigers Youth Summer Camp in Beijing, where 80 American students and teachers climbed the Great Wall and experienced the depth of Chinese civilization—injecting fresh vitality into the friendship between the two nations.
