California 2024 Pay Data Reporting Portal Now Open

LOS ANGELES- The California Civil Rights Department (CRD) has officially opened its Pay Data Reporting Portal for the 2024 calendar year. All private employers with 100 or more employees, including those who hire workers through labor contractors, are required by law to submit annual reports detailing employee pay, demographics, and other workforce data.

This year, there are notable changes employers should be aware of:

1. New Race/Ethnicity Category Added

Following the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) recent revisions to federal race and ethnicity data standards, the CRD has added “Middle Eastern or North African (MENA)” as a new category for reporting purposes.

2. Updated Employer Resources

The CRD has released a new handbook of instructions, along with updated templates and an enhanced portal interface, all designed to improve the user experience and streamline the reporting process.

Important Deadline

Employers must submit their pay data reports to the CRD no later than May 14, 2025.

We encourage all employers to review these updates carefully and ensure they are in compliance well ahead of the deadline.

These developments highlight the evolving landscape of employment regulations on both federal and state levels. Employers should stay updated and ensure compliance to avoid legal pitfalls and potential penalties. Legal counsel is recommended to navigate any complex changes effectively.
