Congressman Derek Tran Swearing-In Ceremony
Fullerton, CA – Feb 22nd , Congressman Derek Tran joined local elected officials, community leaders, and CA-45 constituents for his district swearing-in ceremony. At the ceremony, the Congressman laid out his priorities for his first term as a Member of Congress and speak to the historic nature of his election as the first Vietnamese American Congressman elected from California — home to the largest Vietnamese American population in the United States.
On February 22, California 45th District Congressman Derek Tran held a grand swearing-in ceremony at California State University, Fullerton. The atmosphere was warm and guests from all walks of life gathered to witness this historic moment. At the swearing-in ceremony, Derek Tran solemnly promised to fully represent the diverse voices of the constituency, strive for resources and opportunities for the community, and promote the development of small businesses, public safety and education. Congressman Lou Correa, Judge Jacqueline H. Nguyen of the United States Federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Fullerton Deputy Mayor Shana Charles, Mayor Joyce Ahn of Billington Park, Deputy Mayor Connor Traut, City Councilman Carlos Franco, City Councilman Susan Sonne, City Councilman Lamiya Hoque, Mountain View School District Board Member Cindy Wu, elected officials from surrounding cities, and Vietnamese leaders and representatives attended the event.

At the meeting, with the witness of everyone, Judge Jacqueline H. Nguyen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit served as the oath-taker of the inauguration ceremony of Derek Tran. At the end of the oath-taking ceremony, Derek Tran, the 45th District Congressman of California, first thanked everyone for coming and supporting him, especially his wife and three children, and all the elected officials present today. He also expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception of California State University, Fullerton, and it was a great honor to represent this school in Washington.

“Today is the ceremonial swearing in with the community. we were so fortunate to have so many folks come out to support me in in this historic day, seeing friends, elected leaders from across the county. it’s just heartwarming. For me getting to congress, it’s really about making sure that I represent my district in a manner that brings back resources and brings back funding for them. That’s the most important thing that I can do as their congressperson. They have needs at the local level that I will be prioritizing which each one of my cities and then working to achieve those accomplishments for them.” Tran said.
