New Relief Grants Launching for Wildfire Victims
The Department of Consumer and Business Affairs is launching the LA County Household Relief Grant program for victims of the Eaton and Palisades fires. The online application opens Feb. 26 and closes March 12, 2025.
Eligible households can receive up to $18,000 based on household size and composition. The relief fund will distribute $32.2 million in financial assistance to wildfire survivors for housing costs, living expenses and funeral costs. Priority will be given to the most impacted households based on need, including insurance status, social and economic vulnerability, loss of life, health conditions, and other risk factors.
Additional Fire Relief Funds from DEO Available to Small Businesses, Nonprofits and Workers
The Department of Economic Opportunity has two fire relief funds that are now open for applications. Both funds are direct cash assistance grants, and applications are open through Feb. 24, 2025, at 5 PM.
- The Small Businesses/Nonprofits Fund is for small businesses and nonprofits who incurred structural loss, structural damage, equipment/inventory loss, or revenue loss because of the disaster.
- The Workers Fund is for workers who lost employment or income because of the disaster. This includes those who worked in the fire-impacted areas, but live elsewhere.
