Westminster, CA – In order to serve the displaced families affected by the Los Angeles fires, the Westminster School District (WSD) is offering immediate in-person school transfers, whether short-term or long-term. “WSD is here to help you attend school in-person without interruption,” said Superintendent Dr. Hansen. “Any student displaced by the wildfires is welcome to enroll with us, even on a temporary basis. We have plenty of resources to share with your family.”
To support fellow neighbors in their time of need, WSD is also extending assistance to families and students impacted by the recent fires. WSD opened its no-cost family boutique two years ago and has received hundreds of thousands of donations, which WSD will donate to all families in need.
Support Services:
- Free in-person schooling for displaced students, short term or long term
- Complimentary backpacks and school supplies
- Family resources such as clothing, food bank, toiletries, school supplies and toys
- No-cost breakfast and lunch programs for students
- Onsite student counseling
The district aims to provide a stable educational environment during this challenging time, demonstrating its commitment to community support and resilience.
WSD is hosting a fundraiser as well. If you would like to donate food and water – please drop it off at Meairs Elementary School onWednesday, January 22nd 8 AM – 2 PM and Thursday, January 23rd 8 AM – 12 PM at the WSD Boutique Store (8441 Trask Ave, Garden Grove).
