Be on alert! Particularly Dangerous Situation Coming – National Weather Service has announced a Particularly Dangerous Situation in certain areas of the City and County from 4:00 AM Tuesday to 12:00 PM Wednesday, with wind gusts expected to reach 45-70 miles per hour. LAUSD Opening Most Schools – Per Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) will reopen most schools as well as all offices on Monday January 13th. For more information click lausd.org/schoolupdates.
Combatting Illegal Activity – The City is launching a new, simple intake system to report price gouging – call 311 to report illegally hiked rents and prices.
The City of Los Angeles released the following resources and information for Angelenos working to recover from the impacts of the wildfires. Angelenos are urged to continue to stay vigilant and follow guidance including updates on air quality and steps to mitigate its impacts. Some of the resources available include:
FEMA announced additional resources that affected Angelenos can access now. Residents can go to disasterassistance.gov to apply for FEMA assistance. Additional information and guidance is available at emergency.lacity.gov/recovery.
Californians who are unemployed due to the L.A. fires should apply for benefits right away, here. Governor Newsom has proclaimed a State of Emergency, which includes waiver of the usual 1-week unpaid waiting period for fire victims. This means those who are eligible will receive their first benefit payment sooner.
The City’s 10 BusinessSource Centers (BSCs) can provide free one-on-one consultation, business and employment support, and assistance with applying for forthcoming microenterprise grants and microloans. To find a complete list of BusinessSource Centers, use this Interactive Map.
The Small Business Administration is now offering home disaster loans, business disaster loans, and economic injury disaster loans, which can be applied for at lending.sba.gov.
