Announcing 2025 Rose Parade Mid-Parade Performance Presented by Enjoy Illinois

PASADENA, Calif. (December 5, 2024) – With excitement building for January 1, 2025, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses is excited to announce that Enjoy Illinois will take center stage with an incredible Mid-Parade performance at the Rose Parade presented by Honda.

Enjoy Illinois is bringing Chicago movie magic to Pasadena with a “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”-inspired float. “Play Hooky in Illinois” is a true celebration of Illinois pride, pop culture and the unifying power of music. This whimsical float captures the carefree spirit of the iconic Illinois 80s film, with nods to its unforgettable scenes and characters.

Acclaimed artist and Illinois native Brian Culbertson will take center stage, blending his signature mix of jazz, funk, and R&B into an electrifying Danke Schoen performance. Joining him are lively dancers and Ferris Bueller look-alike Tyler Lankston, creating a fun and spontaneous celebration for viewers around the world on New Year’s Day.

As Brian’s music fills the air, the Enjoy Illinois float will showcase why Illinois is the ultimate destination for creating your own “Best Day Ever” memories—full of adventure, nostalgia and unforgettable moments.
The float features a dazzling recreation of Chicago landmarks, including the Wrigley Field marquee, the Flamingo sculpture, Willis Tower, and the “Save Ferris” water tower. It also features fun nods to the film, like a red sports car and a floral tribute to A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.
