HELP CREATE LASTING MEMORIES IN L.A. COUNTY THIS GIVINGTUESDAY BY ADOPTING A LOCAL FAMILY IN NEED

Tuesday, December 3, is GivingTuesday, a day when people around the world are encouraged to lend their generosity to those in need.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) encourages residents who want to be a part of a truly special effort, to sponsor a deserving local family as part of the department’s holiday Adopt-A-Family Program.

For more than 30 years, DPSS’ Toy Loan Program and Volunteer Services has partnered with the community to match sponsors with low-income families receiving DPSS services for the annual campaign. In 2023, the Adopt-A-Family partnership sponsored approximately 1,200 low-income families receiving DPSS benefits.

Sponsors are matched with a family and given a wish list that may include clothing, gift certificates, or toys.  Sponsors may adopt one or multiple families.

Since 2012, the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been designated globally as GivingTuesday.  The Adopt-A-Family sponsorship is a great way to lift communities in the county and serves as a much-needed reminder of the true meaning of the holiday season.

Those interested in sponsoring a family may apply online today at http://bit.ly/DPSSAAF. Information on the size of the family and location will be provided. For additional information, email: AdoptAFamily@dpss.lacounty.gov.
