OC Supervisors Call for Andrew Do’s Resignation and Removal from Board Appointments

SANTA ANA- Today, Orange County Supervisor Chairman Don Wagner and Supervisor Katrina Foley called for fellow Supervisor Andrew Do’s removal. Federal investigators raided the home of Andrew Do’s daughter last Thursday in the wake of an ongoing fraud investigation.

Wagner today issued the following statement: “I have this afternoon used my prerogative as Chairman to place on the next agenda for board consideration the removal of Supervisor Andrew Do from all board/chairman committee assignments. I expect unanimous approval when the matter comes forward early next month.”

“I am, of course, aware of the calls for Supervisor Do to resign from the board and expect him to seriously consider his future on this elected body, especially for the sake of the citizens of the First District. He is entitled to the full protections of the law as these cases move forward and I urge against a rush to judgment in these matters, as I do in all legal proceedings. I have the utmost confidence in our legal system and will accept the findings of this investigation and the rulings of the courts. I am also certain that my colleagues and I will not approve any disbursement of additional discretionary First District dollars without a full vetting of any such proposed expenditures.”

“The proposed new assignments spread the additional work among myself and Supervisors Chaffee, Foley, and Sarmiento. I have no doubt they will join me at this difficult time in picking up the slack with this extra work.”

Foley called for fellow Supervisor Andrew Do’s immediate resignation from the Board of Supervisors and removal from all Board appointments until then, citing his direction of taxpayer funds to nonprofits currently embroiled in a corruption and fraud scandal. Supervisor Foley also called on Attorney General Rob Bonta to begin proceedings to remove Supervisor Do from office, citing law enforcement’s raid of his personal residence outside of District 1.
“Supervisor Andrew Do shattered public trust and each day his presence on the Board of Supervisors delegitimizes the office in which we sit. Andrew Do must resign,” said Supervisor Katrina Foley. “His continued receipt of taxpayer compensation and benefits is unacceptable, especially when he is unable to attend Board meetings or do the minimum requirements of the job.”
Supervisor Foley added: “After the FBI raided his personal residence in District 3,  we must question whether he even resides in District 1, as required by election law. Supervisor Andrew Do’s historic betrayal of public trust and his failure to uphold the law leaves us with no option but to request the Attorney General start necessary proceedings to remove Andrew from this elected position.”
