CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL INVESTIGATING A FATAL HIT AND RUN CRASH IN ORANGE COUNTY
Orange County, Calif. – California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers are investigating a fatal hit and run crash that took place on July 12, 2024, at approximately 11:40 p.m.
CHP Santa Ana Area units were dispatched to reports of a man down on the right shoulder of I-5 southbound north of 4th Street. Upon arrival, a deceased male was located lying on the right shoulder of the freeway. Investigators believe that a white Mercedes-Benz struck the male as he was walking in the lanes of I-5 southbound.
The CHP is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver and vehicle involved in this crash. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor. The CHP is asking anyone who has any information or may have witnessed this incident to contact the Santa Ana Area office at (714) 338-5500.
