WSD Boutique Celebrates One-Year of Giving Back
Westminster, CA – Westminster School District is proud to announce the one-year anniversary celebration event of the WSD Boutique on May 16 at 3:30 p.m. at Iva Meairs Elementary (8441 Trask Ave, Garden Grove). The free store has provided clothing, shoes, school supplies and other essential items to hundreds of families over the past year.
The WSD Boutique first opened its doors on May 3, 2023, with the goal of supporting district families in need by offering new and gently used donations of clothes, backpacks, school supplies and more at no cost. Since then, it has welcomed over 500 people and distributed thousands of items.
The boutique operates like a retail clothing store, allowing families to browse and select items they need. It is stocked entirely through community donations of new or lightly used items. District families volunteer to assist with sorting donations, restocking shelves, and assisting shoppers.
The district offers this service to anyone who schedules an appointment. The boutique is open every Friday, but plans are in the works to make it more available during the week as well.
Donations are always being accepted and can be dropped off at the school site. The boutique store is looking for more socks, new undergarments, school supplies, and of course clothes for both children and adults.
“The WSD Boutique Store has been an incredible resource for our community,” said Mariela Bridgewaters, Parent and Family Engagement Specialist at Westminster School District. “By providing free access to clothes, shoes and school supplies, we’ve been able to ensure students have the basic essentials they need to attend school ready to learn.”
