“The paper cutting is one of the oldest forms of the Chinese folk arts, representing people’s aspirations and hope for better lives and beautiful things,” said Zheng.  “I want to present it to the world, and let more people know how wonderful it is.”

According to Zheng, he started to learn the paper cutting at his early age from his grandfather who used to be a well-known paper cutting artist in Guangxi, China.  The paper cutting has become an indispensable part of his life.

Mike Eng, Allen Wu and other local officials and arts fans all commended Zheng on his achievements in paper cutting art and promoting the Chinese folk arts around the world.

It is learned Zheng’s world tour also includes San Francisco, New York, and several Canadian and European cities.

The paper cutting art, which appeared in China as early as the 4th century AD, was listed in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists in 2009.
